Our mission
&Black&White is a program of The MaNaBu Movement Inc, a U.S. 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization (EIN: 85-3028431).
The MaNaBu Movement empowers youth to reach their full potential and become advocates for a kinder, more inclusive, and regenerative future — through collaboration, education, and community service.
Why a wordless cartoon is a mission
&Black&White is our visual education program. Every episode is wordless and language-neutral — which means every child on Earth can understand it, regardless of language, literacy level, or ability.
We use this unique format to:
Build visual literacy
Three &Black&White episodes have been adopted into the Croatian national school curriculum, where teachers use them to develop children's visual perception and storytelling skills.
Include children who are often left out
Because there is no dialogue, the series is naturally accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing children, children with autism spectrum disorder, and children still learning to read. Educators at Have Dreams, a leading U.S. organization serving individuals and families living with autism, documented exceptional engagement when autistic students watched the series.
Give teachers and therapists free tools
Wordless animation is widely used by speech therapists and educators for storytelling, sequencing, and emotional learning. We make our episodes and learning resources available to classrooms and therapy practices.
Prove that quality doesn't need a language
The series has screened at 20+ international festivals, including Animation Day in Cannes and Cinekid, and premiered at Animafest Zagreb — showing young audiences worldwide that stories belong to everyone.
About The MaNaBu Movement
The MaNaBu Movement received the Golden Seal of Transparency from Candid (GuideStar) for integrity, openness, and trust in all aspects of our work — awarded consecutively in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Over the past three years, we have mobilized over $2.3M in support of programs across 12 countries, reaching 36,000+ young people, restoring 120+ green areas, and delivering hands-on programs with over 1,600 youth. We have implemented 7 ERASMUS+ programs covering youth empowerment and education in circular economy, entrepreneurship, digital skills, media, and mental health and wellbeing.
Our programs have been supported and endorsed by renowned institutions and organizations, including the U.S. State Department, WorldChicago, Green Tech Alliance, NEXUS Global, the German Federal Government, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and SDG Accelerator, and supported by companies including Google.org, Microsoft, and Salesforce. The MaNaBu Movement's case study has been showcased at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York and at "We Sustain Sustainability," a leading European sustainability conference focused on youth empowerment and education.
&Black&White extends this mission into visual education and inclusive media: entertainment that quietly teaches every child that failing is human — and trying again is everything.
How the program is funded
&Black&White is developed with the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), the EU Regional Development Fund, and Creative Europe MEDIA. Any proceeds from &Black&White merchandise support The MaNaBu Movement's nonprofit mission of visual literacy and accessible storytelling.
